The humble coathanger along with "pre-loved" building materials make for an innovative art exhibition by Redland Bay artist Lyndal Hargrave.
The exhibition, Geometricks II, is a collection of wall-based sculptures and oil paintings based on geometric form.
It will be the first exhibition for Hargrave in her home town for seven years and will be opened by mayor Karen Williams at the Redland Art Gallery on Friday, May 15 at 6pm.
Hargrave has exhibited in Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast and Switzerland but was happy to finally return to exhibit in Redlands.
“There is something universal and eternal about geometry. I am fascinated by the underlying order of things, the sense of pattern that lies beneath the chaos of life.”
To attend the opening, call 3030 4163 or email gallery@redland.qld.gov.au
The Redland Art Gallery is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm and Sunday 9am to 2pm at Middle and Bloomfield Streets, Cleveland.
The exhibition continues until June 28.
