Carmel College held centre court on Sunday for the launch of the 2015 Queensland Independent Secondary Schools Netball Carnival.
The annual netball carnival attracts independent secondary school netball teams from across the state, with a different school hosting the event each year.
A school spokesperson said despite Carmel College being the host school this year, the carnival was being held at Boondall, as the college was unable to accommodate a large volume of simultaneous netball games.
"Carmel College is the only school from the Redlands involved in this competition, which has 48 teams taking part from across Queensland," the spokesperson said.
At the launch on Sunday, more than than 700 people joined staff and students at the Thornlands college, where students entertained guests with dance routines and vocal performances.
A highlight of the event was an address by special guests Gretel Tippett and Kim Ravaillion, from the Queensland Firebirds, who held a question and answer session with the audience.
The QISSN Carnival began on Monday at Brisbane Entertainment Centre and continues until Friday.
