Sirromet is gearing up for the South East Queensland run of the Tough Mudder challenge, to be held at the Mount Cotton winery this weekend, September 12 and 13.
Construction for the team oriented obstacle course is complete, with the Mudder challenge, previously held in Caloundra, to see six new obstacles this year.
Sirromet head of sales Rod Hill said the winery was “extremely excited to be the venue for Tough Mudder 2015”.
“Not only do we have the space for the 20km track, it’s a beautiful setting for both contestants and spectators,” he said.
Also excited about the event are participants Ryan Moore, of Wellington Point, and Sue Kelly, of Cleveland. Ryan will compete in a team of two, with his brother Damian from Tasmania, and Sue will be part of a team of four mothers.
Ryan and Sue both said they were looking forward to challenging themselves at the obstacles, with Ryan, a second time mudder, saying the challenge became more difficult as “your shoes become waterlogged and you become covered with mud”.
“Your legs burn, your shoulders ache, and then you have to piggyback your partner. It’s a mad course,” he said.
Tough Mudder spokesperson Paul Mudge said Sirromet was “perfect” for the event.
“It’s perfect for our Mudder Village and there are some interesting and unique landscape features within the grounds that are also perfect for our mudder course,” he said.
