A sausage sizzle at Bunnings raised $1500 for local charity Friends With Dignity, an organisation that helps domestic violence victims regardless of age, gender or sexuality.
The organisation, launched in September, focusses on hands-on, practical support for individuals and families in need.
Volunteers collect and distribute essential items for people escaping domestic violence on a needs basis and everything collected goes to a family.
It is run by a board of passionate volunteers, one of which is Capalaba resident Bianca Stubbs who is the National Operations Manager.
Until now, the service has only been offered in South East Queensland but the team of voluntters has grown and the service will soon cover the entire country.
Ms Stubbs has just returned from New South Wales where she held information sessions about the service.
"We are all about giving dignity back to those who need it most," she said.
"Every donation is valued and we are always thanking our donors."
