SUICIDE prevention will be the focus when some of Queensland's best martial arts and muay Thai boxers pay tribute to Stradbroke Island teen Jai Burns at a boxing event next month.
After the teen's death in March last year, the island's boxing community decided to hold The Quandamooka Cup, a charity event in memory of Jai.
Organisers have locked in a ladies match between Elyse Lu from the Gold Coast's Flow Martial Arts and Stacey Schinkel from Brisbane's Staunch Top Team.
Another exciting match-up for the top end of the event card will be crowd pleaser Rhys Lightning from Rampage Thai-boxing against Murri boy Clayton Collyer from 350 Fitness.
Both men are incredibly tough and have lots of skill.
One of the exciting fights will be between two old boys Stevie Yahpit Pye and Marcus Burgess.
The pair went to war 12 years ago but are back to slog it out for the Quandamooka Cup, which will be held at Cleveland Showgrounds Stadium on March 26.
North Stradbroke Island people wishing to attend can catch a chartered boat,. the Calypso, from the Gold Cat Flyer, leaving Toondah Harbour at 10.30pm.
Wrist bands issued at the show must be worn in order to use the chartered service.
Ticket are now on sale.
