Rickertt Road has tied fourth in an RACQ survey of the most unroadworthy roads in Queensland.
The poor condition of Rickertt Road at Ransome, together with safety concerns at the Chelsea Road intersection and for cyclists were mentioned in the Unroadworthy Roads Survey released on Wednesday.
The road was also reported for being rough and having poor shoulders and flooding issues.
“The Brisbane City Council-owned section of this road has not been upgraded and remains as single lane each way, narrow and rough with congestion at Green Camp Road intersection and safety concerns for cyclists using the road, as well as motorists using the unsignalised Chelsea Road intersection,” the report stated.
Rickertt Road did not feature in the previous survey in 2011.
ACQ executive general manager advocacy Paul Turner said 427 local, State and Federal roads were reported to RACQ last month through the survey.
A total of 896 responses were received.
Bruce Highway topped the list, followed by Pacific Motorway and Mount Lindesay Highway.
Captain Cook Highway had the same number of responses as Rickertt Road.
“The biggest safety bugbear by far is rough road surfaces, followed by too-narrow roads or traffic lanes, poor road shoulders and roads prone to flooding,” said Mr Turner.
“Unsurprisingly the Bruce Highway tops the list of the most complained about roads; nominated for rough, narrow conditions, congestion and sections which are constantly cut off by floodwater.
“It’s closely followed by Pacific Motorway’s congestion problems, lack of overtaking opportunities on the Mount Lindesay Highway and crashes at roundabouts north of Cairns on the Captain Cook Highway,” he said.
The survey aimed to identify the worst roads in Queensland.
The results will be provided to road authorities to help identify problems and support improvements on the road network.
