Member for Cleveland Mark Robinson said the work included construction of a new entrance and ticket counter, installation of new fare gates and lighting, as well as an upgrade of CCTV and toilet facilities.
He said the upgrade work was expected to be completed in November.
The number of car parks at the station will stay the same. However, the biggest change will be the installation of fare gates.
A Queensland Rail spokesperson said customers would need to use their go card or have their paper ticket verified by station staff to gain access to and from station platforms once the fare gates have been installed.
The spokesperson said at times when the station office is closed, customers with paper tickets could access the station through the fare gates, which would remain opened during such times.
We thank our customers for their continued patience during this time, as we work to build a better station the spokesperson said.
