POLICE have charged a 20-year-old man after a homemade explosive device was set off in Mount Cotton on Tuesday night.

Police will allege emergency services went to a privately-owned vacant block on Golden Wattle Avenue in response to calls about an explosion about 10pm.
The Mount Cotton man was charged with one count of dangerous conduct with a weapon, possess weapon whilst under the influence of liquor and attempt to destroy property by explosives.
No one was injured during the explosion, which police allege was made using a copper pipe.
The man is expected to appear at the Cleveland Magistrates Court on June 2.
