The Fatality Free Friday campaign started in 2007 and is a national community-based road safety program.
Motorists are asked to take the pledge for Fatality Free Friday by promising to drive safely.
More than 130,000 road safety pledges have been signed since the campaign began.
The local event is organised by Department of Transport and Main Roads, Redlands Traffic Advisory Group, which is an initiative of Redland City Council, and Queensland Police.
It will be held on Friday from 10am until 2pm at Cleveland Library Square in Middle Street, Cleveland.
In addition to coffee, visitors can enjoy a free sausage sizzle from midday to 1pm.
Volunteers in Policing will discuss mobility scooter safety and council compliance officers will be available to talk about the school zone safety program.
Police cars and one of council’s school zone ‘pace cars’, which is part of the safety program, will also be on show.
It will be the first Coffee with a Cop event for Cleveland Police Station.
The Coffee with a Cop idea came from the United States, but was started in Queensland by Senior Constable Sam Schofield of Capalaba Police Station and Capalaba Police Beat administration officer Pauline Dunn about two years ago.
It has since been replicated around Queensland.
The event provides a place for people to chat about anything of concern with their local police over a cup of coffee.
