If it involves kicking a ball, Tarni White, 15, of Capalaba is an indispensable player.
She recently proved her mettle with AFL as a member of the Queensland School Sport Australia's 13-15 Years and Under Combined Girls Team playing in the midfield.
In May, Tarni was chosen to Captain the SSA Metropolitan East Girls AFL Team which played for the first time at the State Championships in Mackay. This was followed by Nationals in Maroochydore with the Queensland Maroon Team. She earned bronze for both events.
Tarni received the top honour as Player of the Championships at National level, as well as four Best on Grounds and selection in the All-Australian team for the second year in a row, alongside the best 22 players from across Australia.
Her mother Karen described her daughter as "extremely sporty" with Tarni playing All Schools Touch Football and being a part of the Sports Excellence program at Alexandra Hills State High School for the past four years.
Tarni was recently appointed as Assistant Coach for Under 14 Brisbane South Vixens Championships to be held in September at Maroochdore and is keen to play in the U17 Vixens State competition at Yeronga in October and continue to be a member of the Queensland Under 18 Youth Girls Academy.
A highlight of Tarni's AFL career was her selection into the Under 18 Youth Girls National Team as the youngest player in the squad, putting the second goal on the board for Queensland and three Best on Ground.
With the AFL National Womens League commencing in 2017 Tarni has a impressive portfolio to bring to the game in the future years and would love to see Female AFL represented at the next Olympics.
