Carl and Deb Wynn, with their daughter six-year-old daughter Ella, were recently filmed in the Redlands as part of a follow-up for the program which gives families a look at life in Australia ahead of possible migration.
But the process of getting here has not been all sunshine.
Ms Wynn first considered moving to Australia in 2012 when she was sick for about five weeks and spent time re-evaluating her life.
“We had a lovely home, jobs and life in northern Wales, but I thought I really would like to have sunshine in my world,” she said.
Ms Wynn decided to submit an application for the BBC series which brings families to Australia for a week to help them decide whether they want to move.
As one of about 10,000 applicants, their chances were slim, but by the end of the year the Wynn’s had been selected.
They were filmed over three days in their house and at work in Wales before flying to Brisbane.
Based in Cleveland for three days, the Wynn’s were filmed as they were shown around the Redlands.
Although Mr Wynn required more persuasion, his wife was determined from the outset to move.
“I really wanted us to try it as a family, even if it was just for a year or two.”
Returning home, they agreed to make it happen and started on the visa application process.
In July 2014 their immigration agent notified them that their visa had been approved, but a week before they moved they discovered the letter was fake.
“No one under our name had ever applied for a visa,” Ms Wynn said.
“The agent had never even lodged our application.”
A year later – to the day – the Wynn’s received notification that their visa had been approved and in November they moved, settling in Capalaba.
“We are now living the dream,” said Ms Wynn.
“We love every tiny detail about our life here. We have no regrets at all.”
Both teachers in Wales, Ms Wynn is working here as a kindergarten teacher and Mr Wynn has started the puppet show business he has dreamed of since he was 17.
