Member of Soroptimist International Bayside, Ralda Forzin became the new President of Soroptimist International Australia at the Federation Conference in Sydney earlier this year.
Ms Forzin will serve on the Federation Board of Directors along with national representatives from five other countries in the Pacific Region from Mongolia, PNG, New Zealand, Malaysia and Fiji. The national position is a two-year role and Ms Forzin becomes the voice of Australian women during that time.
Ralda will attend meetings of national organisations, such as the Equal Rights Alliance and the Australian Council of Women, to discuss issues concerning Soroptimists.
One of the major projects this year is the Rosie Batty Roadshow. As part of a national campaign on domestic violence, 2015 Australian of the Year, Rosemary Batty, will be the keynote speaker at breakfasts being held in capital cities across Australia this month.
Ms Forzin said she was looking forward to the challenge that the position provided.
“I hope my voice will echo the sentiments of a nation of passionate women who strive to make a difference in the lives of women and girls across Australia and throughout the world,” she said.
Soroptimist International is a worldwide organisation for women in business and professions working through awareness, advocacy and action, to foster human rights and the status of women.
