Fake $50 notes charge
A 31-YEAR-OLD man has been charged after $750 of counterfeit $50 notes were allegedly found in his possession.
The Teneriffe man has been charged with one count each of fraud, uttering counterfeit money, possess counterfeit money, possess utensil and possess tainted property.
He was stopped by police while driving in Middle Street, Cleveland about 12.50am on Monday.
About an hour previously, a Capalaba service station had reported a suspected counterfeit note was used to purchase fuel.
Police said the counterfeit cash appeared to be thicker than real notes and sections were flaking.
