WOVEN art work created by survivors of sexual violence will be exhibited at Redland Performing Arts Centre in November.
The display is a culmination of a four-week weaving workshop that aimed to support the survivors and raise awareness of sexual violence.
Facilitator Lisa Mcdonald said the art-as-healing workshop and exhibition was being held for the second time and she hoped it would be an annual event.
Participants were taught by women weavers of Quandamooka to weave grass skirts.
They adapted their individual pieces using traditional and non-traditional materials to tell their unique story.
Ms Mcdonald said the grass skirt had a double meaning by playing on the victim blaming that often took place around rape.
The group was supported by businesses, organisations including Centre Against Sexual Violence Redlands, and received a council grant to help with costs.
The art work is on display at RPAC until November 26, with an official opening for the public at 6pm on Friday, November 4.
