Redlands Bayside Swimming Club can offer improved poolside services with the opportunity for new computer equipment, afforded through a Redland City Council grant.
The grant will allow the club to automate and centralise its processes and facilitated the purchase of a . Microsoft Surface Pro tablet . This will make poolside recording a smoothly automated process, facilitate the competition entry process and be a valuable instruction aid for new members.
In receiving the cheque President Shane Knight expressed his appreciation for the funding.
Masters swimming in the Redlands has gained popularity since the club’s inception in 2006, growing from 12 to its current total of 60 members.
Evidence of the standard of coaching was illustrated when former Head Coach Alan Patterson was awarded Masters Coach of the Year in 2013. The current coaching team is led by Masters Swimming Certified Coach Ann Gartshore, joined by five coaches who are soon to complete their accreditation.
Members of Redlands Bayside Masters Swimming Club compete in meets throughout Queensland and other states. The club has held Masters Swimming Queensland sanctioned meets and postal events and also conducted within-club charity events. These include the Diabetes 10km Swim-a-thon in 2015 and the Fight for Breast Cancer one-hour swim in 2013.
Redlands Bayside offers club sessions at the Cleveland Aquatic Centre on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings for members and those wishing to avail themselves of free coaching lessons prior to joining.
The club caters for swimmers of all levels including competitors in triathlons and open water swims.
