REDLANDS-BASED organisation Star Community Services has received funding through the Commonwealth Home Support Program to provide transport and home services further afield.
The growth funding will enable Star to provide transport and home maintenance services in Aged Care Planning Regions known as Brisbane South, Logan River Valley and South Coast areas.
The actual boundaries of operations within these broader areas are yet to be determined.
Star is a community organisation, supported by more than 120 volunteers, that started in Redlands more than 20 years ago.
It provides aged care services including transport, home care and social support.
General manager Patsy Wilshire said the expansion would result in new jobs mainly for call centre staff, schedulers, drivers and administrators.
“We will invest significant time and resources in training and developing skills to ensure that the local communities reap the benefits,” Ms Wilshire said.
“The growth funding will allow us to increase our capacity and enable us to fill existing gaps in home support services across the allocated regions.”
