Two choirs will combine with the Redland Sinfonia, to present four centuries of music Harmony of the Spheres, coming to RPAC at 2pm on June 17.
The Redland City Choir, Musica and the Redland Sinfonia will perform works which explore man’s relationship with the universe, through mythology, philosophy and religion.
Well known pieces such as Mars from the Planets, Debussy’s Clair de Lune, Sanctus from Bach’s B Minor Mass and the Hallelujah Chorus from the Messiah will be performed, as well as Gymnopedie by Satie and new Suite from Phaeton by Lully. Also featured will be Adiemus by Karl Jenkins, originally written for an airline advertisement, but now performed by choirs all over the world.
Hosanna from Lamb of God, an oratorio by Rod Gardner will be performed as well as a premiere performance of The Temple of Mt She. This was written by Sinfonia conductor Graeme Denniss, with words written by Chinese Ming dynasty poet, Yuan Hung-Tao.
The three conductors Dr Graeme Denniss, Anita Taylor and Melissa Gill said they were thrilled to combine their forces in a program of such beautiful and inspirational music.
The concert will be a celebration of the splendours of both choral and orchestral music, presented in the beautiful acoustics of the Concert Hall, and promises to provide an uplifting experience for the audience and musicians alike.
