THE first Biggest Ever Blokes Lunch outside of Victoria has been held at Redlands RSL in support of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
The lunch concept has become the foundation’s largest fundraiser since first being held at Shepparton in 2009.
Since then 20,000 people have attended lunches and more than $2.7 million has been raised for PCFA.
Redlands RSL general manager Peter Harrison said they were very excited to host Queensland’s inaugural Biggest Ever Blokes lunch at Cleveland.
“We aimed to not only raise money for this great cause, but also to raise awareness of prostate cancer,” he said.
“We look forward to this event becoming a yearly feature on our calendar.”
PCFA’s national community fundraising manager Liz Wynn said the lunch was an important fundraising event.
“We are so excited to bring this success across to a new state with the goal of raising more funds for men, their partners and families affected by prostate cancer.
Among the 110 guests were AFL’s Alastair Lynch and Richard Champion and comedian Greg Ritchie.
