Mount Cotton has been hardest hit, with 11 reports of stealing or attempted stealing from cars in two nights.
A further four cars at Victoria Point, two at Thornlands and two at Capalaba have also been reported to police over the past week.
Frustrated police say many of the crimes would not have happened if motorists locked cars and secured valuables, including tool boxes.
Police crime prevention co-ordinator Sergeant Chris Hebblethwaite urged vehicle owners to secure cars when parking overnight.
Property was often stolen from unsecured vehicles or from unlocked tool boxes.
“Prevent this happening to you,” he said. “Lock your cars, even when parked in a garage or carport.
“Offenders seize the opportunity to break into vehicles or access unlocked vehicles and steal property and target tools and equipment from rear trays and cabs of utes.”
Cash and power tools were stolen from cars parked outside houses near Spotted Gum Crescent, Mount Cotton on Friday and Saturday nights.
Other cars were opened and searched but nothing stolen.
At Thornlands, tools were stolen from a ute and a handbag from a car, both parked at houses near Ziegenfusz Road last Friday night.
On Tuesday night, wallets were stolen from two cars parked at one house in Spruce Avenue, Victoria Point and another in nearby Poinciana Avenue and a backpack from a car parked in Waratah Avenue.
There was also damage to two cars parked outside houses at Capalaba.
