EXTRA sets of hands are needed to help a Redlands-based disability group make soaps, teas, pantry items and other goods in time for Christmas.
Blue Tongue Industries, run by Tea Cup Cottage, enables young adults with disabilities to develop employment-related skills.
Tea Cup Cottage director Alex Shaw said demand for the group’s handmade toiletries and craft goods had outgrown supply, with more people needed to help manufacture items in time for Christmas.
“We are selling more than we are making,” she said.
Ms Shaw said scented goat milk soaps had proven popular with customers, along with green teas flecked with dehydrated citrus peels and berries.
“We know from the sales we’ve had so far that these products have a market, so we’re continuing to refine the product range,” she said.
Blue Tongue Industries forms part of the service’s Blue Tongue Adventure program, which teaches life skills to disabled young adults to help them live independently.
Their handmade products are sold from the Tea Cup Cottage store at Capalaba Central Shopping Centre.
