STUDENTS from Hilliard State School got robots to jive to music last month as part of the RoboCup Championships.
The school took part in the event for the first time, with two teams entering the Brisbane regional section of the competition.
Digital technologies teacher Vicki Cowan said the Dance Force team’s robots danced to music with a Star Wars theme, while the Movers and Groovers team had a tiger theme.
“Our students capably programmed their robots to dance in time with the music and with team members,” she said.
“The robots had to perform within a square boundary and all of our robots danced within this parameter.”
Ms Cowan said the students could be very satisfied with their efforts.
“Our robots danced with style while remaining within the boundary and apart from a couple of robots colliding with each other, the student programming and choreography of the Lego EV3 mindstorm robots was excellent.
“With this experience and our new knowledge, we look forward to entering further robotic competitions,” she said.
