Ms Batstone won the award at the Australian Professional Photography Awards.
It was the first time the professional photographer had entered the APPAs.
She achieved two silvers in the Australian Institute of Professional Photography state awards earlier this year, which qualified her for the APPAs.
“Not in a million years did I think I would achieve such amazing results, let alone qualify for the APPAs,” Ms Batstone said.
“As this was my first year entering the APPAs I was only planning on it being a learning experience and did not expect to win any awards.
“After all, it’s the best of the best at the APPAs,” she said.
“I am in awe of the level of skill and creativity of the photographers who compete there.”
Silver awards require a score of at least 80, while gold awards are for photographs scored between 90 and 94.
Ms Batstone said she was blown away by the judges’ comments.
“It truly is a heart-warming moment and one I had only ever dreamed of and will certainly cherish forever.”
