A 21-YEAR-OLD Macleay Island man was charged with fare evasion after he rode on top of a water taxi from the Weinam Creek ferry terminal at Redland Bay.
The incident happened about 4.15pm on Friday, September 29.
The man, who was also charged with partaking in an unregulated high-risk activity, was apprehended by police after the water taxi returned to its Redland Bay dock a few minutes after departure.
Police said it would be alleged the man had jumped from the terminal’s roof onto the water taxi for the ride.
A Queensland Police Services spokesperson said the water taxi had commenced its journey for a few minutes before being alerted to the male on the roof and returning to the berth.
The man is due to appear at Cleveland Magistrates Court on Tuesday, October 17.
