LNP candidate for Springwood Julie Talty plans to do a bit of congestion busting if she and the LNP are elected to government.
Cr Talty said she would push for a $5 million safety upgrade that would clear congestion at one of Mount Cotton’s busiest intersections.
She said the Valley Way and Mount Cotton Road intersection had become a point of contention within the local community and was one of the reasons behind her campaign for Parliament.
“The Valley Way and Mount Cotton Road intersection is one of the main routes used by thousands of residents who live in the Mount Cotton Estates and surrounds,” Cr Talty said.
“As a local councillor for more than five years and a resident for many years longer, I have seen countless accidents occur as a result of vehicles queuing at this intersection.
“More than 19,000 vehicles use this intersection every day and we have grown sick and tired of being ignored by this state government.
“I am committed to building a better Mount Cotton and Springwood electorate.
“If I am elected to an LNP-led government we pledge $5 million towards improving the safety of this intersection for our community.”
Cr Talty said her plan would include road widening to add an additional right turn lane out of Valley Way and a dedicated left turning and safe merging lanes.
“My plan will see Mount Cotton residents getting to work and back home to their families sooner and safer,” she said.
“I am the only candidate for the Springwood electorate that has a plan to fix this critical intersection.
“If I am privileged to represent Springwood in State Parliament I will continue to fight side-by-side with my constituents to deliver the infrastructure and liveable community they need.”
