POLLING booths across Redland City opened at 8am today.
Voting is compulsory for those who are enrolled to vote, and full preferential voting is in place.
This means every box on the ballot paper must be numbered in your preferred order to ensure the vote is counted.
In the seat of Capalaba, sitting member Don Brown (Australian Labor Party) is competing against four other candidates: Paul Taylor (Pauline Hanson’s One Nation), Cameron Leafe (LNP), Jason Lavender (independent) and Joshua Sanderson (The Greens).
In Oodgeroo, the incumbent Mark Robinson (LNP) is competing against two other candidates: Brad Scott (The Greens) and Tony Austin (Australian Labor Party).
Matt McEachan (LNP), who holds the seat of Redlands, is also competing against four other candidates: David Keogh (The Greens), Peter Dowling (independent), Kim Richards (Australian Labor Party) and Jason Quick (Pauline Hanson’s One Nation).
A redistribution of electoral boundaries this year has moved parts of Redland City into the Springwood electorate, with four candidates vying for the seat: John Taylor (Civil Liberties, Consumer Rights, No Tolls), incumbent Mick de Brenni (Australian Labor Party), Redland City councillor Julie Talty (LNP) and Neil Cotter (The Greens).
