By next year you could build a mobile app within 10 minutes thanks to a Brisbane-based start-up.
Codebots is a software development platform that was created to take the stress and time out of building mobile and web-based apps by writing 92 per cent of the software's code.
Co-founder Eban Escott launched Codebots' beta program this week to iron out kinks before its public release early next year.
He said the aim of the platform was to make technology more accessible for everyone.
"I have seen how frustrated everyone is with technology and it is a real barrier to so many people who can solve problems that are going on right now," he said.
"I am trying to lower those barriers of entry so more people can execute on their ideas."
Mr Escott, whose company employs 45 staff, said the bots were up to eight times faster than regular software development, capable of writing up to 300,000 of lines of code in less than a minute.
"If you know what it is going to look like you can use the diagramming [on the platform] ... and then you fill out your backlog of requirements," he said.
"It is never just you working on a project, it is many people, so you have to make sure you set the vision of what you want to do.
"You do the diagramming and then the bot writes the code and the bot will get you over 90 per cent of the way of where you need to be."
He said users would need to go through a series of short qualifications before they were let loose on the web-based platform.
"People are going to get on there excited and then say, ???How do I actually use this thing?' " he said.
"We are going to have a series of qualifications ... they are all going to be very short - five, 10, 15 minutes - and you will be able to do them from your phone.
"So you will be able to sit on the train or the bus and you will be able to quickly do your qualifications to learn about certain parts of using Codebots."
The software-building-software platform has turned a few heads, including from those in a government organisation and a number of universities, which Mr Escott said were struggling to keep up with demand.
"A lot of the problems in big enterprise at the moment is everyone coming to the internal IT team and saying ???Hey, we need you to build this app so we can do a bit of research, or build this app to do something within a faculty'," he said.
"One university we are talking to has a backlog of two years' worth of projects."
The start-up received $250,000 in government funding earlier this year as part of the Advance Queensland Ignite Ideas fund. Codebots was expected to be launched in 2018.
