GREEN thumbs working to improve the environment can win up to $19, 000 by entering in the 2018 Healthy Land and Water Awards.
Entries are now open for individuals, groups, schools and organisations to register in 11 award categories including Volunteer of the Year, Healthy Habitat and Sustainable Water Management awards.
The most innovative category winner will also be awarded the Minister’s Grand Prize worth $10,000.
In addition to the main categories, an entrant with a long history of helping the environment will be the first person inducted into the Healthy Land and Water’s Hall of Fame.
Healthy Land and Water chief executive officer Julie McLellan said the awards were the perfect showcase for the work being done to ensure future generations can enjoy clean waterways and healthy landscapes.
“If you know someone that deserves recognition - whether it be a community group removing rubbish from a waterway, a farmer managing their land in a sustainable way, or a school planting trees in bushland - nominate them for an award at our website before entries close on May 1,” she said.
Entry nominations close on May 1 and finalists will be announced on June 15.
Winners will be announced at the Healthy Land and Water Gala Dinner on July 27 at Brisbane City Hall.
