The national bocce championships will be held at the Redlands Sporting Club from June 8 to 11.
Play follows an opening ceremony on Friday, June 8 with the Redlands Sporting Club pipe band leading teams onto the courts at 7.45pm.
A total of 22 teams involving about 100 players will compete for 12 titles in what is the 48th men’s and women’s championships. The club also hosted the championships in 2013.
Players from all states will compete in singles, double, triples and specialised throwing events such as bowl/throw, precision and rapid throw.
President of Redlands Bocce Centre Neil Parlato said it was traditional for the championships to be declared open after the Australian Bocce Federation president invited official guests to roll a bowl down the court.
