The grant is part of a $10m gift by the CommBank Foundation in celebration and recognition of 100 years of employee giving.
More than 13,000 current and retired bank employees donate a portion of their income to the program, with Commonwealth Bank adding up to $2m annually.
The inspiring and far reaching impact of the work undertaken by The Cage Youth Foundation was a crucial factor in it receiving the grant.
Victoria Point branch manager Ylisa Menday said the foundation’s sole purpose was to “make a difference” in the lives of young people and their families.
“Receiving this grant will allow them to expand their programs, securing further material in directly supporting disadvantaged individuals as required. We’re thrilled to be able to support organisations like The Cage Youth Foundation in the important work they do for our local community,” Ms Menday said.
“It’s especially meaningful that we are able to celebrate 100 years of employee giving, by nominating an organisation to receive a centenary grant in our local community.”
