SOME were big some were small, some were skinny and some were fat but they were all hairy.
Hundreds of dogs took their owners to the Raby Bay foreshore on Sunday for the RSPCA’s Million Paws walk.
Pretty poodles glammed it up, dalmations did their thing with big grins and cranky little dashunds snapped at myriad numbers of crossbreds who really annoyed them.
The big national fundraising event is aimed at boosting the coffers of the animal care group which organisers say costs close to $50 million a year to run.
Just 2 per cent of this money comes from governments.
It was hoped to raise $600,000 to $700,000 this year for major campaigns like that under way about the abject cruelty exposed last month in the live export sheep trade.
The walk along the waterfront at Raby Bay was deemed “a walk towards a cruelty-free future”.
The Million Paws Walk is the RSPCA's biggest pet-friendly fundraising event, with tens of thousands of Australians taking part each year in other states and at 20 sites across Queensland.
