A SERVICE for parents and families who have lost babies will be hosted by chaplains at Redland Hospital.
Music, poetry, readings and the lighting of candles are planned for the commemoration, which will take place at Redland Hospital’s chapel from 10am on Saturday, May 26.
Ashes of infants who had died at the hospital in the past, few month would also be interred at facility’s memorial garden.
A hospital chaplain said those who had experienced the death of a baby, a stillbirth or early pregnancy loss were invited to attend.
“The effects of losing a child are often underestimated by society,” the chaplain said.
“Our aim through this service is to recognize and acknowledge the loss that each person has suffered and to provide the opportunity for them to acknowledge their own loss and to reflect on their personal experience and precious memories.”
Coffee and tea will be served afterwards.
