Queensland police have recovered forensic samples from a distinctive yellow car and believe they're close to solving the suspected murder of a man last seen more than three years ago.
Sam Price-Purcell, 28, was last seen getting into a yellow 2010 Holden Commodore SS sedan in the Brisbane suburb of Mitchelton on February 16, 2015.
Detectives have impounded a similar car from a property near Toowoomba, west of Brisbane, and suspect it was used by a number of people linked to the murder.
They said samples from the vehicle had been sent for testing, but would not say what they were.
The current owner of the car, who is not connected to the crime in any way, has been left without a vehicle while the investigation proceeds.
Police believe Mr Price-Purcell travelled to Toowoomba after leaving Brisbane on the day he was last seen.
The car was seized on Thursday from a home at Helidon, 20km east of Toowoomba.
Police said the properly was formerly owned by people with suspected connections to Mr Price-Purcell.
"Our investigation so far has led us to believe some evidence was disposed of at that location after Sam went missing," Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Jones said on Friday.
Police will search the property for any personal items that belonged to the victim.
It is the second search in the region in two months.
In March detectives found guns and drug equipment at a property at Leyburn, 70km southwest of Toowoomba.
That search resulted from a tip-off which came after an emotional appeal from Mr Price-Purcell's mother, Leoni Price.
"We need to know what happened so that we can have some peace," Ms Price told reporters at the time.
"The emptiness that I feel, his loss has just left a massive hole in our hearts."
