A REDLANDS woman is raising $20,000 to secure a building for her autism charity, called Abundance College.
Kylie Dawson said she set up the non-profit organisation last year to help school leavers like her son, who is on the autism spectrum and has struggled to get work.
“As a mother of an autistic teenager, it hits home when reaching out to these employers and being rejected, because I know my own son can achieve more than he can express,” she said.

“He built his first ever computer at the age of five but telling this to an employer is not enough to persuade them of the abilities many (people with autism) already possess.”
She said employment agencies sometimes did not match young people with jobs they were suited to.
“They can remain unemployed,” she said.
Abundance College is not yet a registered training organisation but Ms Dawson said the application would be made after a building was secured.
“(It will all be) under one roof – students can learn to become work ready,” she said.
Ms Dawson asks that donations be made here.
