Gymnasts from YMCA Victoria Point will represent their club in the annual State Club Championships at Caloundra from June 29 to July 3.
The club will join more than 1000 gymnasts from about 30 Queensland clubs.
Gymnastics Queensland Chief Executive Officer Kym Dowdell said the competition included the annual Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, Men’s Artistic Gymnastics, State Club Championships, the Border Challenge and Special Olympics.
“Being a team format, the State Club Championships will give competitors the opportunity to learn from one another, show their team spirit and develop teamwork skills,” Ms Dowdell said.
“These highly skilled athletes will take to apparatus such as the vault, rings, parallel bars, horizontal bar, pommel horse, uneven bars and balance beam as well as completing floor routines throughout the event.”
Ms Dowdell said 15 Queensland athletes would also participate in the Special Olympics where athletes with an intellectual disability could showcase their gymnastics prowess.
“We encourage members of the public to come along and watch our talented and skilled gymnasts in action. It will truly be a spectacle.”
Entry is $10 per session and free for children under 18.
