FORENSIC crash unit police have been sent to the scene of a crash involving a truck and car at Wellington Street, Cleveland.
The head-on collision happened about 12.45pm on Wednesday, July 4.
A man was taken in a serious but stable condition to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with head injuries.
Senior Constable Nen Hansen said three vehicles were involved in the crash.
She said initial investigations suggested one of the vehicles may have been travelling in the wrong direction when the crash happened.
A black car was left crumpled by the crash.
Senior Constable Hansen said forensic officers would investigate the cause.
Police had blocked traffic travelling along Wellington Street towards the roundabout from the Russell Street intersection.
UPDATE 1.45pm
A MAN has been taken in a serious but stable condition to hospital after a crash at Cleveland.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said the man had a serious injury.
Emergency services are still on the scene.

POLICE have closed a section of Wellington Street between Russell Street and the roundabout on Shore Street West.
EARLIER
A MAN has been hurt in a crash involving a car and truck at Wellington Street, Cleveland.
The crash happened about 12.45pm on Wednesday, July 4, near the Cleveland ambulance station.
A Queensland Ambulance Services spokesperson said one ambulance crew was on scene helping the man, who is understood to have suffered serious head injuries.
The man’s age is not yet known.
