FIREFIGHTERS are monitoring a timber fire burning at Sheldon.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokesperson said the fire broke out about 10am on Tuesday, July 17 at a commercial property near Mount Cotton Road.
The fire is in the vicinity of intersections at West Mount Cotton/Mount Cotton roads and Duncan Road/Mount Cotton roads.
Drivers have been urged to take care, with smoke affecting visibility.
The fire has not threatened properties but authorities have warned nearby residents to close-up their homes to avoid smoke.
“Firefighters were on scene earlier today and will continue to monitor conditions overnight,” the spokesperson said.
“Affected residents should close windows and doors and keep their medications close by if they suffer from a respiratory condition.”
