THE Cleveland Lions Club have paid tribute to past president Pauline Denisenko after five years of service and awarded her the club’s Distinguished Service Award.
Charter president for 2001-2002, Celeste Parker presented the award to Mrs Denisenko at the Lions Club of Cleveland Challenge’s installation of officers ceremony.
Ms Parker paid tribute to Mrs Denisenko’s community service throughout her time as president and member of the board since 2005.
Ms Parker said Mrs Denisenko led by example and attended all meetings and always represented the club at events.
“That's dedicated Lions community service,” Ms Parker said.
Ms Parker ackowledged that Mrs Denisenko had undoubtedly gone above and beyond in her service, and thanked her on behalf of the club.
After spending almost 50 years serving the community in different clubs and organisations, Mrs Denisenko said she had always enjoyed community work and would continue to serve.
“It's an absolute pleasure to do what I do for the community,” she said.
“It's so nice to help people when they are going through hard times, sometimes just through no fault of their own... our help can make it that much easier for them."
In response to Ms Parker's tribute, Mrs Denisenko expressed her gratitude toward the team and thanked them for their services.
“Of course, this just doesn't happen on its own,” she said. “We all have a part to play, and, just like a jigsaw puzzle, we fit in together to make a whole picture, whereas by ourselves we are just a small, individual piece.
“I thank sincerely all of my fellow members for their support and confidence throughout this past year.
“Without these hard working Lions, I wouldn't be able to do my job. For this, I salute you,” she said.
