THIS September the Old SchoolHouse Gallery features members Greg Hughes, Louise Saunders, Pauline Bladin and guest artist Cathy Howie.
Almost 30 years ago Greg began painting in acrylics. Over the years his development has been diversely influenced through experimenting with various media, styles and themes, recently discovering watercolour.
Louise’s passions are painting specimens in watercolour and, more recently, acrylics, drawing in colour pencils, graphite, and pastel. Self taught, her pursuit for perfection has rewarded her with travel to Borneo to draw bats, publication in scientific books and journals, and solo and joint exhibitions at high profile galleries.
Also self taught, Pauline started potting 30-years-ago when she lived on a property in NSW. Pauline enjoys decorating her works using a plain white surface as a canvas. Her love for blue and white is evident in her work.
Cathy’s fond memories are of Stradbroke Island, exploring and collecting many objects. Her passion is Australian flora and fauna, and she enjoys painting a variety of subjects in various mediums, preferring acrylic and pastel.
Springtime opens Saturday, September 8 at 5.30pm, thereafter every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9.30am to 4.30pm until October 3. The gallery is at 124-126 Shore Street North. It has free entry with off-street parking and wheelchair access.
