The Redlands community is doing what it does well, again joining forces to give a hand up to struggling farmers experiencing the effects of extreme drought conditions.
Wellington Point Rotary Club president Lorraine Hooker said her club would be joined by the other four Rotary Clubs in the area – Capalaba, Bayside, Sunrise and Cleveland and the Capalaba Lions Club to host a big garage sale.
It would be held at Cleveland District State High School's Smith Street Hall on the weekend of September 29 and 30.
Ms Hooker said that the collaborative community event was aimed at bringing people together to give help where it was needed and it is envisaged that many willing hands would make light work.
“Items, excluding large white goods and large furniture items can be dropped off at the Smith Street location between 9am and 7pm on Thursday, September 27, and 9am and 2pm on Friday, September 28, with the garage sale to take place on Saturday, September 29 from 8am to 5pm and the following day from 8am until 2pm,” she said.
“Help is far from restricted to Rotary and Lions Club members and community help is encouraged.”

As at September 4, there are a total of 23 councils and four part council areas drought declared.
These declarations represent 57.4 per cent of the land area of Queensland.
There are also 140 individual droughted properties in a further 14 local government areas.
