Redland City choir conductor Anita Taylor is hoping a music video recently released by the choir will attract international attention and promote the virtues of Australia.
Ms Taylor said she wrote the song We Are Calling, after living away from Australia for three years.
“It wasn’t until I left that I realised how I love this country. I missed the music, the bush dancing, the iced chocolates, the food. I missed the blue sky, sunsets, the beaches. So when I got back, I was inspired to write this song – about missing home,” she said.
Ms Taylor said she was hopeful the song would be taken up at some point by a world event such as the Commonwealth games.
The video features a solo by Scott Muller and was created by Queensland Movie Makers and produced by Jim Collack. it was filmed at Wellington and Cleveland points. Previous to the video We Are Calling had been recorded by Geoff McGahan and funded by Ken McDonald.
“I love writing songs and most particularly, I like writing music for other people to sing,” she said.
