REDLANDS Subway restaurants are celebrating World Sandwich Day on Friday by raising money to fight food insecurity in Australia.
Held in partnership with food relief organisation Foodbank, the 2018 Subway Live Feed is the restaurant’s biggest annual fundraising event.
Every person who visits the Redland Bay or Victoria Point Subway restaurants and purchases a sub, salad or wrap on November 2 will get one free, and Subway will donate the cost of a meal through Foodbank to those seeking hunger relief.
On World Sandwich Day last year, 280,000 meals were donated in Australia to communities who experience food insecurity and anxiety, including charities and schools.
Subway Australia and New Zealand country director Geoff Cockerill said the event, first held last year, helped to unite local branches for a good cause.
“We certainly appreciate the support that we receive from our local communities in shining a spotlight on such an important cause,” he said.
This year, Subway aims to donate more than 300,000 meals to children and families experiencing food scarcity.
Each donation will be captured on the Subway Live Feed digital tracker.
