Local authors and illustrators have contributed to a collection of short stories and poetry entitled It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas which is a number one, best-selling book on Amazon this Christmas.
Through the anthology, the authors share with readers their own personal Christmas story, their memories of Christmas as a child and what Christmas means to them, creating a fascinating anthology.
Share Your Story director, Michelle Worthington operates a local business helping aspiring creatives realise their dream of publication. In this anthology, the authors and illustrators have donated their talents to help raise funds for student teachers in underprivileged countries.
"To ensure that a trainee teacher has every chance of punctuality, attendance and success, profits from the sale of the anthology will be put towards purchasing a bicycle to ride to the teachers training college. This will increase their effectiveness to learn and developso these teachers can make a positive impact on the lives they teach in the future," Ms Worthington said.
The college in Tanzania was constructed to train public teachers for public schools.
"The cost of one bicycle is $22.50US and it is our goal to donate 100 bicycles before Christmas. I can remember wanting a bike for Christmas when I was younger, and at Share Your Story, we are honoured to be able to make dreams come true for everyone involved," she said.
The authors and illustrators will be in the Cleveland heritage room of the Grand View from 10.30am on December 1 to launch the anthology. This will be a free family event with live music, an outdoor children’s playground and the arrival of Santa.
