RISING temperatures in Beaudesert and parts of inland south-east Queensland are tipped to fall short of a heatwave next week.
Maximum temperatures are forecast to rise over the weekend and hit 36 degrees on Tuesday, November 27, according to the Bureau of Meteorology’s seven day forecast.
Forecaster Lachlan Stoney said temperatures would need to significantly exceed the November average maximum temperature of 30 degrees to qualify as a heatwave.
“We are expecting it to get pretty hot over the weekend and into next week,” he said.
“We don’t have a high degree of certainty...as we get closer to the weekend we will have a much clearer idea.

“At this point, the temperatures don’t qualify as a heatwave as it is just a few degrees above the maximum temperature. We are forecasting a heatwave further north in Capricornia next week.”
In the meantime, a developing inland weather system is expected to bring rain and thunderstorms to south-east Queensland late this afternoon.
Mr Stoney said there was a very high chance of showers expected.
“We are generally expecting 10-20mm of rain to be reasonably widespread through the Beaudesert, Lockyer Valley and Granite Belt areas,” he said.
“There could be isolated totals which will be much higher up to 50mm depending on where the thunderstorms are.”
Rainy weather conditions are expected to continue overnight and clear on Thursday.
Potential stormy weather is also expected to hit Brisbane and the Redlands over the next two days with a 40 per cent chance of rain on Wednesday and an 80 per cent chance on Thursday.
