MATES Theatre Genesis actor Jan Nary is a finalist in this year’s Gold Palm Theatre awards being judged pn December 11 at the Home of the Arts, Gold Coast.
Ms Nary was chosen for her role as Melissa Gardiner in Mate’s inaugural 2018 production of Love Letters, in the category of best actress in a leading role in a community theatre play.
Ms Nary has a career as professional journalist, radio broadcaster, actor and publicist and is a champion of local arts.
MTG’s second production for 2018, Drinking Habits received votes in seven categories but did not gain the three judge's nominations required to progress into the final. The seven categories, all for community theatre plays, were for best set design (Ian Munday, Linelle Taylor, Cheryl Waldock, Theresa Twigg, Brian Gamble and Roy Nunn), best costumes (Glen Windle, Jacqueline Windle and Cheryl Waldock), best actor in a supporting role (Shane Webb), best actress in a supporting role (Ashley Mullins), best actress in a leading role (Lisa Wheildon), best director (Debbie Spearritt) and outstanding production.
