MEXICAN restaurant Guzman y Gomez will be handing out free burritos on Tuesday to help launch their Capalaba store.
A Guzman y Gomez spokesperson said the giveaway was all part of fiesta fun, planned for Tuesday, December 11 from noon to 7pm.
Patrons can grab a burrito or a burrito bowl with their choice of filling, subject to terms and conditions and limited to one serving per person.
Fillings include chicken, pork and steak but menu items like brown rice and whole wheat tortillas are not offered as part of the promotion, the spokesperson said.
A live mariachi band will entertain patrons, with face painting also offered for kids.
The shopfront was at 108 Old Cleveland Road and part of a commercial development near Capalaba’s KFC restaurant and drive-through.
Guzman y Gomez will the Redlands second Mexican-inspired fast food outlet to open in less than four days.
Tex-Mex giant Taco Bell opened its third store in Australia at Cleveland on Saturday, set up where the old Sizzlers Restaurant used to be.
The spokesperson said Guzman y Gomez offered cuisine packed with flavour. More than 105 stores were operated across Australia, Japan and Singapore.
“Guzman y Gomez is bringing all the delicious Mexican food you’ve been dreaming of – packed full of authentic flavour and ingredients made right before your eyes,” the spokesperson said.
The Capalaba store’s also opening coincided with the the addition of ground beef to the Guzman y Gomez menu.
“(It is) a mouth-watering recipe that has been passed down through the family of Guzman y Gomez,” the spokesperson said.
The free burrito day at Capalaba is expected to be busy, with the opening of a store in Sydney earlier this month attracting more than 4000 people.
