Construction has passed the half way mark on the $11.4 million new stage of Aveo’s Freedom Aged Care Redland Bay development.
Demand for aged care is expected to be high in the region, with The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare forecasting that 11 per cent Brisbane southside residents of 50 or more will require aged care services.
Aveo chief executive Geoff Grady said the Redland Bay build was scheduled for completion in May and would have 38 units and a community centre which would have a lounge, dining room, bar, gym, day spa, media room and activity and consultation rooms for visiting health professionals.
This would complement existing amenities which included a swimming pool, men’s shed and community vegetable gardens.
Mr Grady said the revitalisation and extension of the Aveo Redland Bay community, which already has 39 units, is vital in ensuring key aged care infrastructure is developed to support the region’s advancing care and service needs.
“This community already delivers superb on-site amenities and care services. We’re particularly pleased that this new stage will allow more seniors to experience this community for life,” Mr Grady said.
“We have invested in superior amenities that support residents’ care needs including a ‘memory node’ space dedicated to helping those with cognitive concerns to navigate the community and ultimately assist residents’ with the ability to live independently.
“We know that demand is increasing for aged care services across Australia and Aveo provides a holistic approach to retirement which allows us to cater for seniors at all stages of life – from independent living to higher care.”
Aveo’s aged care model was an alternative to a nursing home, offering residents the freedom to live as independently as they wished in their own home with the care service level they required.
One and two bedroom units at the site at 24 Salisbury Street start from $380,000, with display units open for inspection to the public next month.
