CAPALABA police have helped deliver festive joy to sick kids at Lady Cilento Hospital.
Handmade teddies, colouring books and stickers were all dropped off by officers earlier this month.
Acting Senior Constable Vrinda McCauley, who heads the Cops Care teddy program, said the initiative was all to make sick and vulnerable children feel safer.
“Today, we saw lot’s of smiles and laughs from not only the sick children but also their siblings and parents," she said.
"...It is important bring joy into the lives of those who may not be home on the special day."
Acting Senior Constable McCauley and her crew visited Redland Hospital last year as part of the Cops Care teddy program.
Unwell children were the program’s first beneficiaries, with hopes the knitted bears would be packed into police cars for handout to kids caught up in dire situations.
The idea was inspired by the Australian Red Cross’ Trauma Teddies initiative, in which knitted plush toys are given to kids during emergencies to help them feel better.
