MANY Queenslanders will be starting 2019 with a bang with fireworks displays and light shows held across the state this New Year’s Eve.
Partygoers can expect hot temperatures, with James Thompson from the Bureau of Meteorology saying the mercury was expected to reach 30 degrees on New Year’s Eve.
RSPCA Queensland warned residents to take additional measures to ensure the safety of their furry friends, with pets frightened by fireworks being known to run away.
RSPCA Queensland spokesman Michael Beatty said owners were advised to make sure their pets were in a secure and familiar environment, and had up-to-date identification information including owners’ telephone numbers on them.
Redlands residents can visit Victoria Point, Point Lookout or Cleveland to view New Year's Eve fireworks displays.
Victoria Point
Victoria Point Lakeside will welcome 2019 with markets, entertainment and fireworks. From 5pm, families can enjoy magic tricks, music and dance performances and lawn games.
Fireworks will be held at 9pm.
Point Lookout
A fireworks display will be held at 10pm at Dickson Way Beach, Point Lookout.
Cleveland
The Grand View Hotel is hosting its annual New Year’s Eve celebration, featuring two fireworks displays at GJ Walter Park.
Kids fireworks will be held at 8pm, with another display at midnight.
The Amity Point Community Club will not be hosting a fireworks display this year.
