Cleveland police said there were no major incidents aside from a few noisy parties.
Fireworks at Cleveland’s GJ Walter Park lit up the night sky as Brisbane revellers enjoyed their own pyrotechnics show at midnight.

Queensland police applauded the behaviour of New Year's Eve revellers across the state, saying party goers were mostly well behaved.
Police said there were no major arrests made at Brisbane’s centre.
"It looks to have been a very quiet night," a police spokesman said.
“There were few policing incidents in the Brisbane area, especially considering the large crowds that gathered at numerous vantage points across the city.
"There haven't been any major incidents reported in the south east."
Police charged 60 people across Brisbane City, Fortitude Valley and South Brisbane for mostly anti-social or alcohol related incidents, the spokesperson said.
