ASPIRING leaders aged between 15 and 25 are sought for the YMCA Youth Parliament.
Youth Minister Di Farmer said the program was a fantastic opportunity for young Queenslanders to learn leadership skills and speak about issues they cared about.
“Now in its 24th year, Youth Parliament connects young people with their peers, their community, and their parliamentarians, creating networks that can extend into their working life,” Ms Farmer said.
“Importantly, the experience can provide participants with opportunities to build important life skills like public-speaking, decision-making, and teamwork.”
“They will see how Parliament works first-hand and be given a platform there to have their voices heard.”
Ms Farmer said the government provided the YMCA with more than $65,000 a year to run the program, which would begin in Brisbane during Youth Week in April.
The program runs until October.
Nominations have been extended and are to close on March 1..
